The Natural Medicine Guide to Depression

Depression is now a worldwide epidemic. In the United States alone, 30 million people are taking Prozac. This book explores depression from the perspective that its causes lie in imbalances on the physical, psychoemotional, and/or spiritual or psychic levels. The natural medicine (alternative medicine) approach is based on treating the individual rather than the diagnostic label, and addressing the underlying imbalances rather than suppressing symptoms. This approach offers the potential for a lasting restoration of health instead of reliance on antidepressant medications.

The book covers a wide range of therapies, many of which may not be known to the reader. This is not recycled alternative medicine information, but original material drawn from extensive interviews with physicians and other healers who, with many years of experience, are now innovators in their perspective fields. Restoring balance to the body, mind, and spirit at a profound level is what the therapies in this book accomplish. Case studies throughout illustrate their practical application.

Among the natural medicine therapies featured are anthroposophic medicine, applied psychoneurobiology, biological medicine, heavy metal detoxification, CranioSacral Therapy, family systems therapy, flower essence therapy, homeopathy, Seemorg Matrix Work, NAET (allergy elimination), nutritional/dietary therapy, psychic healing, SomatoEmotional Release, Thought Field Therapy, and traditional Chinese medicine/acupuncture.
